Roses were red.
My life was blue,
Until that one day
When I met you.
You brought me happiness.
You brought me love
like a guardian angel in disguise
that came down from above.
You captured my heart,
and enslaved my soul.
With your ever-loving presence,
Am I serving a kind of punishment,
or might I be part of a concealed plot?
Could it be that I’m part of something good?
Perhaps this life is that which no one thought.
As I look back at all that I have done
it looks as though my actions lack in worth.
My weary mind passed through into another world, another time
The visions that enchanted me were morose, but yet sublime
Through forests deep and intricate my aching heart could roam
And silent whispers called to me and told me I was home
please oh please don’t feel sorry for me
just because my love happens to be poison ivy
she makes me itch she makes me scratch
but I’ll always be ready to jump in the next batch
she makes me rub until I am sore
but with out her my happiness fades more and more
every few weeks she clears from my body
(note: marked as Fixed Verse because I can't seem to find Quatrains in there...also, only the second/fourth lines rhyme. So not a quatrain. Boo to that. There won't be any fixed line length / fixed syllables per line.)
On the corner in the rain,
my umbrella lost to wind,
in the light you strike a pose,
I dream of consequential sin.
Who am I? No-one knows,
Wherever I go, something follows.
I am like a ghost on the moonlit sky,
Above the clouds I can fly.
I only come out when the sun is bright,
Or beneath a head lamp in the middle of the night.
My life ends when the sun goes down,
And a new life is born when the sun comes around.
Dear Lady, refreshment is that which I crave, a cup that revives without intoxication, A reminder of clippers on towering wave Calcutta to London, a drink for the nation

DesertRat: Lance Morrow wrote an article for Time in 1995 on which he talks about sexual abstinence for teenagers. Somewhere in there he mentions 'the swamp of the id.' That word ("id") stuck with me for a while, it is a Freudian term. I would like to see someone use it somewhere. Another couple words I'd love to read in fresh work are 'ennui' (Constance Woolson in "Miss Grief") and 'debutante' (seen in a movie). DR1 day 4 hours ago

Routh: Ok, I have tracked down a bug with the Drupal and the password reset system. If you're logged in to the site when you request a password reset, it will ask for your current password when resetting. In order to fix this, use the link to get your temporary login, then logout with 'My Menu' > 'Log out' - Once you do that request a password reset again and it will not ask for your current password. The Drupal developers have been made aware of this issue and are working to resolve it.3 days 7 hours ago
