"Person Oriented" Society
Primary tabs
It is easy to imagine life as a movie. To imagine yourself as the star, of course, and everyone else merely serving supporting roles of various significance. Most would admit to a view of life that mirrors this sentiment in some capacity. What does this say about our view of the world around us? About the value each person holds in relation to our own “script”? Do our peers hold value only in their ability to further our plot and to help us achieve an end? The average person would undoubtedly answer no and claim a larger intrinsic human value. However, actions do, in fact, speak louder than words. How many of us live with a reverence and respect for each individually equally? All of us for ourselves, most for those closest to use, few for our communities, and only the rarest of us for humanity as a whole.
“We must rapidly begin the shift from a "thing-oriented" society to a "person-oriented" society. When machines and computers, profit motives and property rights are considered more important than people, the giant triplets of racism, materialism, and militarism are incapable of being conquered.”
