Well, shortly after posting chapter 4, I started on chapter 5. However, I didn't finish it that night and left it open. Imagine how pissed I was when morning came and my computer had decided to update and restart in the middle of the night and I lost more than half a boring chapter.
I hate writing chapters that aren't as exciting as the ones before. Writing them is hard. Writing them twice is a pain in the ass and a major turn-off.
That's the explanation of why chapter 5 didn't come last month. Want to hear why it's not truly coming tonight?
Well, I finally gathered the courage to start it again last night. After getting through the best part (the beginning), I realized it wasn't as good as the first attempt. Rather then going through it AGAIN, I just went with it and got another half of the chapter done.
At two in the morning, all I had was the last stretch of it. So I decided to sleep and finish it tonight (now). I was reading a few minutes ago and I suddenly looked up: Shit, there's a storm right over my house; I can hear the thunder.
Now, I've lost plenty of chapters to storms. This time, I'm going to save it before the storm kills it!
I run to my room and...some time over night, my computer restarted and opened the "recovered pages" stuff where the internet opens the pages that were open before the computer turned off.
I come in to save the work and...FUCK! It's gone! AGAIN! Somebody doesn't want me to work.
--Edit--
Names...let's see, shall we?
Dnavarre, Some Fantastic, This Tyrant, This Kiss, Checkmate, Sincerely Yours, Fade.
Okay, I know I'm missing some. Anybody want to help?
And before Fade, I actually gave serious thought to the lame "Dnavalanche" as a throwback to my first name and read as "D N Avalanche."
It was no big loss then =D But seriously, maybe it was a good thing if you were finding writing it that boring. It would probably be boring for anyone reading it, too. I think every chapter should be there to inform or entertain (or do something interesting), and so not be boring. Then again, a first draft is a first draft. Maybe skip it if it's an unimportant chapter and go back when you feel more comfortable.
Edit: After posting this I saw a "random quote":
"Omit needless words. Vigorous writing is concise. A sentence should contain no unnecessary words, a paragraph no unnecessary sentences, for the same reason that a drawing should have no unnecessary lines and a machine no unnecessary parts."
The same can be applied to chapters. If it's a necessary chapter you should be able to find a way to make it interesting.
Sorry if this sounds like I'm having a bitch, I'm just hoping one amateur can help another here.
